A Day with Chico is a complete comic — period. Not a preview, not a chapter, not a teaser for something else. It's one self-contained story: a single day in the life of Chico, a Mexican working courier riding gold country with his horse, Cristóbal.
The day starts the way his days always start — early, with work waiting and accounts to settle. What follows is the whole of a courier's life in miniature: the fares, the miles, the people who pay in promises, and the small kindnesses that never make it into the ledger. By the time the lantern is lit for the ride home, you'll know exactly who Chico is.
Every Fare Has a Story
Storefronts, stables, mining camps — every stop on the route is somebody waiting on something that matters to them. Chico carries it all, and hears about most of it on the way.
The Long Ride Home
When the day's accounts are settled — some in coin, some in gratitude, some not at all — there's still the ride back, and a horse who has opinions about it. The day ends the way it began: Chico and Cristóbal, on the road, together.
